Hasht Behesht is the old name given to Aram Bag by Babur. Hist is a word of Persian language. Hasht signifying eight in English. Behesht means paradise. Thus both the words collectively refer to the place where you seek the tranquility of Paradise. He hailed from a terrain where the climate used to be cool, Indian climate especially of Agra did not suit him when Mercury goes up to 45 degree centigrade in the months of May and June just to cope with these climatic conditions, and for leisure, he planned a beautiful garden. It is said that he made 16 gardens on the banks of the river Yamuna. Ram Bagh is one among those gardens. This garden also finds mention in Tujuke Jahangiri where it is noted that Jahangir ordered for a massive renovation of this garden and lot of mural paintings were done in that time in the interiors of the baradaris. It can be accessed from Agra Cantt &amp; Agra fort Railway stations as well as from all major hotels of Agra. While staying in Agra you can use public transport or a private car. The entry to the garden is on Agra Aligarh Road. The best time to visit this garden in summer time is at sunrise. During the winter time one should visit it at 9 Am when you can enjoy the sun sitting in the garden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Architecture of Rambagh Agra<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Massive walls surround this beautiful garden with corner towers on. The garden is divided in quarters with stone paved pathways. Some historians say that the layout of the garden is not based on regular Char Bagh (Four quarter garden). It is very similar to the pattern of Bagh Hasht Behesht. This is a 17<sup>th<\/sup> century pavilion in Isfahan city of Iran built by Suleiman.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Thus unlike other famous garden tombs of Agra like Mariam\u2019s tomb, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samedaytours.in\/agra-tour-packages\/akabar-tomb.html\"><strong>Akbar\u2019s tomb<\/strong><\/a> etc, this garden is not assimilating the pure features of Char Bagh. In the char Bagh system the tomb is located in the middle with four gardens all around with water causes and water fountains.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>One side of the garden on the bank of the river there is a terrace where you can see steps leading to a big Hammam. The rooms of this royal hammam are now in dilapidated conditions. This hammam provides a summer retreat and the source of water supply was the river.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is there to see in Rambagh Agra<\/strong>?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you wish to enjoy the serene hours, obviously, Ram Bagh is a good choice. The garden attracts tourists with its flora and tranquility. Originally it was made by the emperor for soothing himself and before his death, he intended for his burial in his homeland Kabul. Thus for the time being his body was buried in the garden. It is known as Bagh \u2013 1 Nur Afsham or light scattering garden. Folk lores say that Babur used to enjoy the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samedaytours.in\/blog\/taj-mahal-moon-light-viewing\/\">Moonlight<\/a><\/strong> in this garden and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samedaytours.in\/blog\/walking-into-the-mehtab-bagh-agra\/\"><strong>Mehtab Bagh<\/strong><\/a> garden. This garden has also other name as lazy garden. According to the legends are Mughal emperor proposed to his wife by lying idle for 6 days in this garden. Thus finally she agreed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Similarly while Jahangeer returned after Kangra conquest he waited in this garden for couple of days so that he can get the auspicious combination of the plants.
