In the morning post breakfast at 10:00 Am, our driver will pick you from the hotel in Delhi and you will start your half day guided tour of Old Delhi. You will enjoy a fuming cup of spicy tea (Chai) before taking a stroll through the bylines of old Delhi. You enjoy the flavors of the street food, wander through electric markets and pay a visit to the Hindu temples. Now get ready to explore the traditional Indian Bazaar at Chandni Chowk which is one of the biggest Saari markets in India. Your tour guide will brief you about the traditional wedding items, symbolism in Hinduism and much more. We will explain to you the meaning of marigold chains in these bustling bazaars and will navigate back through the colourful alleys of Delhi. Now you enjoy lunch at the famous Paratha Wali Gali, where you have a chance to savour stuffed fried bread and creamy curd paired with spicy homemade pickles. You witness how local chefs prepare this mid-day feast with fresh ingredients. Your tour guide will also take you to the Red Fort and to other sites associated with the 1857 Mutiny - India’s First War of Independence - and will narrate to you the stories about the old and more recent struggle for independence. At the end of your tour our driver will drop you to the hotel in Delhi.

In the early 20th century the British moved their capital from Calcutta to New delhi (1911) an entire new city comprising of markets (Connaught palace). Courts (eastern and western courts ), airports ( safdargunj airport -formerly willingden airfields) several government houses , residence of the viceroy (rashtrapati bhawan )were designed by a team of architects and engineers. The city had wide roads lined with flowering and fruit trees several new residential colonies (defence colony,south extension etc) were also designed. This part of Delhi was named New Delhi.
The older existing part of Delhi near the red fort comprising of markets,(chaavdi bazaar ,chandni chowk etc) very congested lanes and bylanes of mohallas (residential areas) which existed prior to the construction of new city was termed old Delhi it also had a railway station (old Delhi railway station).
